I'm back with serious issue this time and hope it helps every reader. This time I'll be sharing myths (A traditional, typically ancient story dealing with supernatural beings, ancestors, or heroes that serves as a fundamental type in the worldview of a people, as by explaining aspects of the natural world or delineating the psychology, customs, or ideals of society) related to heart problems ! Heart is like CPU for our computer, that is we live till our heart is safe. And there are many myths related to heart problems in our society.

In this article I'll be sharing the top 10 myths related to heart problems and try to give genuine reasoning or actual fact related to it.

Myths & Facts:

Myth: I'm physically fit I can't get heart Attack !
Myth: Recognizing symptoms of heart attack is easier !

Myth: No Chest => No heart Heart attack

Myth: Let me wait for chest pain to go.
Myth: I'm Young and that is why I'll not have any heart problems.

Myth: Intake of Aspirin daily can help me in reducing heart attack effect
Myth: Heart attack => Life halts
Myth: Effect Heart attack is same on Men and Women

Myth: If I'm controlling my sugar level then I needn't worry about diabetes for heart related problems
Myth: I went through heart surgery (Angioplasty), Now I'll not suffer from any heart problem

Please understand that our body is a temple and we should worship it ! And by worshiping I mean take care of it. Hope from now onwards you will follow a healthy lifestyle (avoiding alcohol, smoking, junk food, etc.. ) to be healthy.

Today I'm gonna share Top 10 mis-pronounced words by toddlers. By toddlers I mean the people who toddle, that is young kids who are in the age range of one - three, that is too young kids and that is the age range when children start learning speaking words. This article is specifically for all the parents who has kids in the age range of one - three, that is toddlers.
I'll be sharing top 10 mis-pronounced words by toddlers in tabular format and it means I cover top 3 words as well. First column indicates the correct word and Second column indicates how small kids generally pronounce them. The data is generated through a survey and can vary for small group of individuals.

Note:

The word YELLOW (ranked No.1) is reported to be mis-pronounced by more than 70% of toddlers (infant kid) parents.
And the word SPAGHETTI is wrongly pronounced by around 17.1% of infant kids.
More than 9% of preschooler or child or toddlers mis-pronounce the word RABBIT.
Around 6% of parents reported that there kid wasn't able to speak the word BIRTHDAY correctly.
And remaining words follow in decreasing percentages, as per the survey.

When our kid speak these we like it and think them to be cute, but don't you think it has to corrected as soon as possible ? Otherwise it will be embarrassing for the kid when he/she grows and mis-pronounce the words in school. And that can lead to frustration in the minds of young kids as they grow.
Though don't hurry as they are still infant, start correcting them but with moderate pace. There are some useful ways (or tricks, tips) for correcting toddlers at moderate pace like hide something which he/she wants and then ask him/her, "what do you want ?" And try that the kid says the correct word and till he tells it correct keep correcting :). Another trick (or way) is to give choices to your kid while asking something, as infant kids try to repeat what we speak. And by that you are teaching them the correct way to speak those words or any other mis pronounced word.

India v/s England test series & 2000th test match !

Hello everyone,
I'm back with an article on cricket ! The game loved by billions and it is like a religion in India and the GOD is Sachin Tendulkar. India and England will be playing 4 test matches (5 day match, played with red color ball and dress code for cricketers is white). The first test started from 21st July, 2011, which is the 100th test match between India and england and 2000th test match in the history of test matches in cricket, which tell you how old the test matches are !

What is test match in Cricket ? (in brief)
A match which goes till a team wins or for 5 days, 90 overs each day. Each team has to play two innings in these 5 days. It is traditionally played with red ball, instead of white color ball which is preferred in ODI and dress code for cricketers is white. Playing a Test match is a great honor for any player, as while playing it and to be successful you need patience, great concentration, dedication & determination to stay on pitch while you are batting. And for bowlers it is a test of there capability to take wickets. For a team to win the match it has to take 20 wickets of the opponent and should have aggregate runs scored in two innings more than its opponent. If a team couldn't capture 20 wickets of opponent then it can't win any test match !

A brief history of test Cricket:
1877: The year when test matches started
1920-21: First white-washed five test match series. Australia thrashed England in 5 test series by 5-0
1928: Australia's Sir Don Bradman (average run scored by him in test matches = 99.94) made his debut in Test cricket
1930: Sir Don Bradman scored 974 runs in 5 test match series, a world record
1938: Len Hutton from England scored 364 runs in one inning, a record at that time, against Australia
1948: Sir Don bradman retires from test cricket. He needed only 4 runs in the last test to have a average of 100 but he was out on golden duck, that is he scored zero !

1956: Jim Laker from England takes 10 wicket haul in an inning against Australia. The only other bowler to achieve this feat is Anil Kumble from India.
1958: Gary Sobers from West indies breaks Len Hutton's record for highest runs in an inning by scoring 365 against Pakistan.
1960: World saw first tied test match, that is both the teams were able to capture 20 wickets and there aggregate score was equal. Teams involved in this test were Australia and West Indies
1964: Fred trueman became first man on earth to capture 300 wickets.
1986: World witness 2nd and the last tied test match until now. The teams involved in the test match were India and Australia.
1990: New Zealand's Richard Hadlee becomes the first bowler on earth to take 400 Test wickets, that is he dismissed atleast 400 batsmen till then.
1992: South Africa returns to test arena
1994: West Indies batsmen Brian Lara, icon for cricket lovers in West Indies, Breaks the highest runs scored in an Inning by scoring 375 against England at Antigua
1997: The highest runs aggregated by a team in an inning were scored by Sri Lanka, that is they scored 954 for 6 against India, still a world record !
2001: West Indies Courtney Walsh reached the magical figure of 500 test wickets, that is he took 500 test wickets, the first man on earth to achieve that feat.
2002: Sachin Tendulkar scores 30th Century to surpasses Sir Don Bradman in test cricket.

2003: Australia's Matthew Hayden breaks Brian lara record for highest runs scored by an individual in a test match by scoring 380 against minnows, Zimbabwe.
2004: Brian Lara scores first quadruple century, that is he scored 400 (not out), to regain his world record for highest number of runs scored by an individual in an inning.
2006: First team to loses a test match by forfeiting it. And the the team which has this honor is Pakistan.
2010: Sri Lanka's all time greatest off-spinner Muttiah Muralitharan takes 800th test wicket, a world record, which is unlikely to be broken by any cricketers in near future.

2010: Sachin tendulkar (Master blaster or the god of Cricket or Little Master) from India scored 50th test Ton, that is 50th test century and became the first man in the world to achieve this feat ! And till now nobody has reached even 40 test centuries other than him !

Why is cricket lovers eagerly waiting India v/s England test series ?

Sachin Tendulkar can re-write history if he scores a century in this series, then he will be the only man on earth to score 100 international centuries, that he will complete 100 times scoring 100 or more than 100 runs in International cricket. At present he has 51 test hundreds, century, and 48 ODI hundreds, that is total of 99 international centuries !
The 100th test Between India and England was stared, and world witnessed 2000th test match !
And the other thing the cricket world is waiting for is to see that can India retain or show the world why it is No.1 in test ranking.

The test matches are at the brink of losing its shine/status because of more entertaining formats of cricket, that is T20 and ODI. And everyone hopes that the test series like this one will make sure that test cricket doesn't become extinct or a history !

2nd test: From 29th July, 2011 to 2nd August, 2011 at Trent Bridge, Nottingham, England

Ipad Comes to India !!

Much awaited gadgets Apple ipad, which was released long back in most of the countries, has reached India ! It has tied up with government-run Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) to launch the tablet in the country.
The reason for the delay has been told to be that Indians generally don't prefer Apple product as they are quite costly when compare to other products which gives them similar features, like samsung galaxy tablet, dell streak and notion ink.

Now the price range at which you can buy IPad in India are as follows,
Wi-Fi Version ranges from INR 26,000 to 33,000, that is around 582.71200 U.S. dollars to 739.596 U.S. dollars.
3G + Wi-Fi Version Ipad ranges from INR 33,000 to 44,000, that is around 739.596 U.S. dollars to 986.12800 U.S. dollars.
I've given the price range because Ipad comes with various capacities, like 16GB, 32GB and 64GB.

Now, Can Apple Ipad (a tablet PC) stand strong in India ?

Apple got an set back when Samsung reduced its tablet pc cost from INR 36,499, that is 818.015588 U.S. dollars to INR 29,500, that is 661.15400 U.S. dollars. So, the chances of Apple IPad been popular and selling it in India looks dim, at present.
Also, there are rumors that ipad 2 will also be released in India soon !

The above two reasons are keeping Indians away from buying ipad, and I guess when ipad 2 is released it will be sold out as soon as it comes to the market !

Exams at IIT described in funny style !

Hello everyone,
I've finished my final exams at IIT and I would like to share the experience while I was reading for exams and writing them. I'll be sharing the experience in funny way using funny exam quotes but they reveal the truth/facts. The experience was quite amazing and after writing exams I thought, "When reviewing your notes before an exam, the most important will be illegible or hidden somewhere at the corner of a page."

I start sharing experience with my first open book exam, where you don't read books only scan them so that searching is faster in exam and expect to read them in exam ;) and when I saw the paper I thought even open google can't help to answer questions correctly !. And then one of my friend told me, this open book exam and I forgot my book !. Amazing isn't it, if you are given open book exam you forget your book(s) or the topic/problem isn't present in the book you brought to write exam.

Also, we have normal final exams, that is closed book (where we read textbooks, notes) and apply it in exam, but somehow after seeing question paper I forget what is that I read, in short we call it as blackout !!

Also, some of you might be knowing that assignments are given at regular pace at IIT to do in hostel/home and some assignments combine together carry more than 80% of total marks ! I was given something like this and I forgot where do i live ! It is like, If you are given a take home exam (same as assignments), you will forget where you live. There is one more interesting fact when lecturer gives assignment at IIT, Every instructor/lecturer assumes that you have nothing else (other courses assignments) to do except study for that instructor’s course.

Also, let me tell you one more interesting fact while I was in exam hall seeing question paper I felt, 80% of the final exam will be based on the one lecture you missed and the one book you didn’t read. And then after trying hard I could see that I've found the question which is somewhat similar to what I read, but The more studying I did for the exam, the less sure I was as to which answer they want me to write, as it is IIT !

The best part comes now, I was having exam for one subject and I got a email from other subject lecturer saying you have to complete assignment by today ! I felt like, The night before the English end term paper, my biology instructor gave 200 pages assignment to work on.

Some of my friends, after writing exams, thought "Colleges are like old-age homes, except for the fact that more people die in colleges."

And at last, after writing last exam and completing assignments we got holidays, and I thought to take them professionally. That is, My holidays starts from today, and I'd like to take it up professionally. :D

And then after few days we will encounter the results ! I can say only one thing to those of you who received honors, awards and distinctions, I say congrats. And to the students who got C grade, I say you too may become president of our country, someday. And to the students who got F grade, I would say better luck next time !

Recently a natural disaster, which include earthquake and Tsunami, hit Japan, it was one of most disastrous natural calamity in the whole world in recent times. And then due to unknown reasons there was nuclear radiations leak. And by this it means Japan came under 3 most devastating events simultaneously. To make people aware about the stats, I'll be sharing the statistics caused due to natural disaster in this article, note that all the figures are approximated.

Number of People lived without electricity and water: More than 850,000

The statistics are really heart breaking, isn't it ?
I guess this is an indication by nature to humans, that nature will not tolerate humans if they continue to destroy nature. I would say it is a wake up call for all the humans around the world to save environment and protect nature!

The term disturbing here means that they look different and can irritate the common people by there looks. Also, they are known as top 10 horrible animals in the World !
I found this list while surfing around, and I thought I should be sharing it here so that the readers of this blog knows about these animals and are careful when hear/see them around. This list is not the absolute list, as beauty lies in the eyes of the beholder and the interest of the human, it is relative list which was released based on some surveys from many people around the world.

India Wins Cricket World Cup 2011, Biggest Tournament of cricket world !

In Finals India met Sri Lanka, and we saw some of the most amazing innings played in cricket world by Mahela Jayawardene from Sri Lanka, Gautam Gambhir from India and Mahendar Singh Dhoni (Indian Skipper). They played with the heart of the Tiger and made sure that there has a chance to win, but as only one team can win the hard work of Gautam Gambhir & M.S. Dhoni along with Yuvraj Singh paid off.

And by this it means the dream of master blaster, Sachin Tendulkar along with the dream of million Indians was fulfilled.

Cricket World cup 2011, Biggest Tournament of Cricket World, Semi-Finals !

In 4 days we saw 4 quarter final matches in Cricket World cup, and in these 4 days 4 teams started there journey towards next round, that is semi finals and other 4 teams started there journey towards Home. In First match Pakistan thrashed West Indies comfortably and in second match we saw the World Champions, Australia, losing to India going empty hands this time, after winning 3 cricket world cup final (1999, 2003, 2007) consecutively. In 3rd match New Zealand won against South Africa, which was unexpected as South Africa was one of the strong contender to win this year world cup ! And in the last quarter Final match Sri Lanka won the match against England Comfortably.

Before I start talking about Semi Finals, let me give brief summary of quarterfinal matches.
Cricket World Cup 2011 Quarter Final Match - 1 : Pakistan v/s West Indies
Winner: Pakistan
Even before the match started many expected that Pakistan will win this match, as they are were doing good work from group stage matches by stopping opponents to score more runs. West Indies were struggling from there form as they received some major blow just before the tournament started, that is some players of West Indies were injured while practicing and some while playing match. And that is the reason they were bowl out for a score of 112 in 43.3 overs. Shahid Afridi (captainf of Pakistan team) and Pakistan Team showed great character while batting and won the match by 10 wickets.

Cricket World Cup 2011 Quarter Final Match - 2 : India v/s Australia
Winner: India
Considered to be one of the most exciting match of the tournament, and it turned out to be. India won the match against kangaroos a=made sure that kangaroo's journey towards winning the cup 4th time halt.

Cricket World Cup 2011 Quarter Final Match - 3 : New Zealand v/s South Africa
Winner: New Zealand
Everyone expected South Africa to win, but New Zealand made sure that expecttions can go wrong and won the match handsomely.

Cricket World Cup 2011 Quarter Final Match - 4 : Sri Lanka v/s England
Winner: Sri Lanka
Sri Lanka team is on a dream run. There openers are firing and making sure that there middle order is not exposed to new ball and they are giving solid opening partnership for there team. They won this match by defeating the creator of cricket game, England.

Semi-Finals:

Cricket World Cup 2011 Semi Final Match - 1 : Sri Lanka v/s New Zealand
Winner: Sri Lanka
As I told earlier Sri Lankan team is on a dream run and they crushed New Zealand in 1st semi final and made sure they are in Finals, which is going to be held in Mumbai.

Cricket World Cup 2011 Semi Final Match - 2 : India v/s Pakistan
Winner: India
India met arch rivals, Pakistan on 30th march, 2011 in 2nd semi final match of the cricket world cup 2011 and made sure that also book there berth for Finals to meet Sri Lanka on 2nd April, 2011. Sachin Tendulkar was the top scorer of the match and was awarded man of the match for his effort. Though his innings was not too much convincing as he was given life 4 times in the match, courtesy Pakistani fielders.

Now..
The Finals will be played on 2nd April, 2011 in Mumbai. Make sure you don't miss the finals, as it will be one of the finest match ever played in history of cricket !

Bengaluru and Bangalore indicate same city (Bengaluru is alias/pet name for Bangalore or you can say it is vice-versa). So, don't get confuse when somebody says you that match is in Bengaluru but not in Bangalore.

Observations:

All the knockout round matches are day-nighters.
The only team common in the first and the last match of the group stages matches is India !
The Knockout round matches is based on points table, which I've shown below and explained about it briefly.
The matches in quarterfinals are scheduled by seeing the Points table, that is the top team in one group will play against the bottom team in the points table from the other group and vice-versa. (This statement is valid only for the teams which qualified for knockout round).

Based on the points table the teams qualify for the next round, that is knockout round in this tournament. The top 4 teams from each group (background colored in green) advanced into Quarter finals to fight the battle on cricket field to be the World champions in Cricket world !
In Table you could see some symbols and abbreviations, those are explained below,
- Pld means number of matches a team played in group stage
- W means number of matches a team win/won in group stage
- L means number of matches a team Lost/lose in group stage
- T means number of matches a team tied/draw in group stage
- NR means number of matches a team playing doesn't yield any result/abandoned in group stage. For example, Sri Lanka and Australia has number 1 placed under this column as one of there match was abandoned, that is that match didn't have any result.
- NRR means Net run rate of a team, and it is one of the main factors to decide teams fate. It calculated based on the team performance and the way they won the matches against there opponent.
- Pts means points. A team is awarded 2 points for winning a match to the winning team, and in case if tie/draw/no result/abandoned 1 point is awarded to both the teams. It is the most important factor for a team to advance.
Points are given higher priority over anything for a team to advance into next round (that is, it has more importance than any other column in the table), and if points are equal then NRR has the priority (that is, it is the second most important factor to advance into next round). For example, If team A has points=6, NRR=1.456 and Team B has points=6, NRR=1.546 then Team B is placed higher in the table.

Now we are seeing the 10th edition of cricket world cup and before this we have already seen 9 cricket world cups, Biggest Tournament of Cricket World. In previous editions of world cup we saw some swashbuckling batting performance by few cricketers who turned the tables, heads and made sure that there teams goes into next round in the cricket world cup or made sure that there team has good chance to advance in the tournament ! These innings entertained the crowd worldwide, which has the capacity to win the match for there team single handedly and gave bowlers tough times.
I'm going to share the top 10 batting innings as came in in a survey, the list is as follows,

Sourav Ganguly's (India) knock of 183 in 158 balls against Sri Lanka in the year 1999, 7th cricket world cup edition. He scored 183 runs which include 7 sixes and 17 fours. India lost initial encounters in the year 1999 and it was compulsory for them to win the big game against Sri Lanka, that to handsomely so that there chances to go in next round widen up, and Sourav Ganguly gave India this chance.
Viv Richards(West Indies) scored 181 runs in 125 balls against Sri Lanka, which include 7 sixes and 16 fours in the year 1987. He came to bat on the hat-trick ball and scored the highest individual score in cricket world cup (till then). This inning was very important from West Indies point of view as they lost previous world cup to India and they wanted the title back. This inning provided them the momentum.
Mathew Hayden's (Australia) knock of 158 runs in 143 balls against West Indies, which include 14 fours and 4 sixes in the year 2007. He played the role of anchor in this game. He wasn't able to open his account in 18 balls, that means his score was zero when he faced first 18 balls and then slowly changed his gear to reach 50 runs in 72 deliveries(balls) and then everyone saw the storm, which Mathew Hayden hided in his heart to hit the bowl hard and he reached 158 runs in quick time.
Adam Gilchrist (Australia) scored 149 runs in 104 balls, which include 14 fours and 8 sixes, against Sri Lanka in finals of the year 2007, that is 9th edition of the cricket world cup. And because of his knock Australia won the cricket world cup for the 3rd consecutive time and 4th time overall.
AB de Villiers (South Africa) scored 146 runs in 130 balls which include 12 fours and 5 sixes against Sri Lanka in the year 2007. West Indies's (then) captain, Brian Lara experimented with team selection in this match as they were already out of semi-final spot and AB de villiers made sure that South Africa reach Semi-finals by this knock.
Rahul Dravid (India), the wall or Mr. Dependable, scored 145 runs in 129 balls, which include 17 fours and 1 six, against Sri Lanka in the year 1999. In this knock he shared the world record partnership of 318 runs with Sourav Ganguly, which I've shared in my earlier articles.
Andrew Symonds (Australia) scored 143 not out in 125 balls against Pakistan, which include 18 fours and 2 sixes, in the year 2003. It was the first match of Australian team in the 8th edition of world cup and Australians saw something unusual in this match. Pakistani fast bowlers removed Adam Gilchrist, Mathew Hayden, Damien Martyn and Jimmy Maher in short span of time as Australia started their campaign. And it was Andrew Symonds along with Ricky ponting who saved the match for Australia.
Herschelle Gibbs (South Africa) scored 143 runs in 141 balls against New Zealand, which include 19 fours and 3 sixes, in the year 2003. Though this outstanding innings couldn't save South Africa from defeat, this inning is special and definitely comes in top 10 innings of cricket world cup.
Dave Houghton (Zimbabwe) scored 142 runs in 137 balls, which include 13 fours and 6 sixes against New Zealand in the year 1987. Although Houghton scored this majestic knock still they were not able to win as rest of the team disappointed Zimbabwe.
Scott Styris (New Zealand) scored 141 runs in 125 balls, which include 3 fours and 6 sixes, against Sri Lanka in the year 2003. This is the third majestic knock, I'm sharing, which was scored by batsmen of losing team. He batted like a sole survivor amidst a sinking ship, and as we know cricket is the team game and to win games team should perform and in this match New Zealand failed to win.

Observations:

The team against which the top 10 innings are highest in number is Sri Lanka, that is 6 times in top 10 list batsmen has scored majestic innings against Sri Lanka.
There are 3 Australians, 2 Indians, 2 South Africans, 1 from New Zealand, 1 from West Indies and 1 from Zimbabwe in the top 10 list.
All the knocks which I shared are 140+, and only two of them are 180+.

Recently, Virender Sehwag(India) scored 175 against Bangladesh, which India won and Andrew Strauss (England) scored 158 against India, which was a draw, in this edition of world cup. Here is the final list of facts which I'll be sharing before the finish of 10th Cricket world cup 2011, the biggest tournament of cricket world. I'm naming these facts as fact-3 !

Fact-26:

Glenn McGrath (Australia) has dismissed highest number of batsmen in world cup matches, that is he has dismissed 71 batsmen in all the world cup matches he played. The others in the list are Wasim Akram, who took 55 wickets and then it is Muttiah Muralitharan, dismissing 53 batsmen. These 3 are the only bowlers who took more than 50 wickets in all world cup matches. Also, these are the top 3 bowlers in terms of number of wickets they took in world cup tournament.

Fact-27:

Number of All rounders who scored more than 500 runs and took more than 25 wickets in world cup tournament: 4
And the Top 3 players in this category are,

Imran Khan of Pakistan, scored 666 runs and dismissed 34 batsmen
Kapil Dev of India, scored 669 runs and dismissed 28 batsmen
Sanath Jayasuriya of Sri Lanka, scored 1165 runs and dismissed 27 batsmen

Another allrounder who achieved this feat is, Steve Waugh of Australia, scored 978 runs and dismissed 27 batsmen

Observation:

Only Sanath Jayasuriya of Sri Lanka scored more than 1000 runs and took more than 25 wickets in above list of allrounders.

Note: Here I gave more importance to wickets, that is number of batsmen allrounder dismissed and then runs, in giving the rank.

Fact-28:

The only pair of batsmen who has aggregated more than 1000 runs in partnership are Adam Gilchrist and Mathew Hayden of Asutralia. Together they scored 1220 runs in 20 innings, that is 20 times they played together in all the world cups. They scored 521 runs in 2003 world cup, that is 8th world cup, and 699 runs in 2007 world cup, that 9th (last) world cup tournament, both the world cup tournaments Australia won.

Note: Adam Gilchrist and Mathew Hayden are also considered as one of the best opening batsmen pair world has ever seen. Also, Sachin Tendulkar and Sourav Ganguly of India are one among the best, I would say THE BEST opening pair, opening pairs World has ever seen.

Fact-29:

The record for the highest runs scored by a pair of batsmen in one inning in world cup matches is held by Sourav Ganguly and Rahul Dravid. They scored 318 runs for second wicket against Sri Lanka in the year 1999, 7th world cup tournament. This record is also the highest runs scored by pair of batsmen for any wicket.

Fact-30:

Only two players has appeared in 6 world cup tournaments (including this (10th) world cup tournament). They are Javed Miandad of Pakistan and Sachin Tendulkar of India. Javed Miandad represented Pakistan in 1975, 1979, 1983, 1987, 1992 and 1996 world cup tournaments and Sachin Tendulkar represented India in 1992, 1996, 1999, 2003, 2007 and 2011 world cup tournaments. Also, these are the only two players who played more than 5 cricket world cup, the biggest tournament of cricket world, in there career.

I'm back with some more interesting facts about Cricket World cup matches and players involved in it. I'm gonna start with Fact No.11 in this article, as I've already shared 10 facts in my previous article @ Cricket World cup 2011, Biggest Tournament of Cricket World, Facts !! :).

Fact-11:

No. of hundreds scored in World Cup matches: 103 (72 by right hand batsmen and remaining, 31 hundreds by left hand batsmen). Australians lead the list in scoring number of centuries in World Cup matches. Australians has scored 21 centuries till now, Indians has scored 15, West Indies players scored 13, Pakistanis has scored 13, New Zealanders scored 11, England 8, Sri Lankans scored 2, South Africans scored 6, Zimbabwean scored 4, Netherlands player scored 2, Ireland players scored 1 and Canadians scored 1 century, that makes total of 103 centuries !

Fact-12:

1st Hundred in World cup was scored by Dennis Amiss (England) vs India in the year 1975 (first cricket world cup, biggest tournament of cricket world edition), 50th hundred was scored by Mark Waugh (Australia) vs New Zealand in the year 1996, 100th century of World cup tournament was scored by Matthew Hayden (Australia) against New Zealand.

Fact-13:

Highest Individual Score in World Cup Matches: 188 by Gary Kirsten (South Africa), present Indian cricket team coach, in the year 1996 against UAE. Next in the list comes Sourav Ganguly (India), who scored 183 against Sri Lankan's in the year 1999. Third highest score is 181 which was achieved by Viv Richards (West Indies) against Sri Lanka in the year 1987 and it was the highest score by any captain in a world cup match. So, in Top 3 we have Gary Kirsten, Sourav Ganguly and Viv Richards.

Top 3 Highest individual scores by Wicket Keeper:

Adam Gilchrist (Australia) scored 149 against Sri Lanka in the year 2007.
Rahul Dravid (India) scored 145 against Sri Lanka in the year 1999.
Dave Houghton (Zimbabwe) scored 142 against New Zealand in the year 1987.

Fact-15:

Highest Individual score by a batsmen for losing cause: 143 by Herschelle Gibbs (South Africa) against New Zealand in the year 2003.

Highest aggregate score by batsmen in world cup edition:

Sachin Tendulkar scored 673 runs in the year 2003.
Matthew Hayden scored 659 runs in the year 2007.
Mahela Jayawardene scored 548 runs in the year 2007.

Important observations in the top 5 (which has top 3) scorers:

Only 2 batsmen scored more than 600 in a world cup edition.
Only there are 5 instances, listed above, when batsmen scored more than 500.
Sachin tendulkar is listed twice !

Fact-17:

Highest No. of centuries in the World cup as a captain : 3 (Sourav Ganguly and Ricky Pointing shares the record).

Top 3 Bowling Performance by a Bowler in a World Cup match:

Glenn McGrath (Australia) took 7 wickets by giving only 15 runs against Namibia in the year 2003 (Australia won this year world cup edition).
Andy Bichel (Australia) took 7 wickets by giving only 20 runs against England in the year 2003 (Australia won this year world cup edition).
Winston Davis (West Indies) took 7 wickets by giving only 51 runs against Australia in the year 1983 (India Won this world cup edition).

Fact-19:

Only 30 times bowlers took 5 wicket haul (which means bowler taking 5 wickets or more) in world cup matches till now. And in 90 occasions bowlers took exactly 4 wickets in all the world cup tournaments played till now.

Fact-20:

Glenn McGrath (Australia), Vasbert Drakes (West Indies), Gary Gilmour (Australia) and Asantha de Mel (Sri Lanka) share the record of capturing five or more wickets on most occasions, that is 2 occasions in World cup tournaments.
Shane Warne holds the record for capturing 4 wickets on most number of occasions, that is 4 occasions.

Fact-21:

Best Bowling performance for losing cause:
Shane Bond (New Zealand) taking 6 wickets and giving only 23 runs against Australia in the year 2003.

Fact-22:

No. of occasions in World cup matches when bowler giving 80 or more than 80 runs in there quota of overs: 16
And only 1 time a bowler gave more than 100 runs in bowling. This record is hold by Martin Snedden of New Zealand, he took 2 wickets giving 105 runs !

Fact-23:

Records Hold by Wicket Keepers in terms of number of wicket-keeping dismissals:

Adam Gilchrist (Australia) holds the record with 52 dismissals (7 stumps and 45 catches) in all the World cup editions he played.
Kumar Sangakkara (Sri Lanka) is 2nd in the list with 32 dismissals (6 stumps and 26 catches).
Mark Boucher (South Africa) is 3rd in the list with 31 dismissals, and all of them are catches.

And next in the list comes Moin Khan, who has a share in 30 dismissals with 23 catches and 7 stumps.

These are the only 4 wicket keepers who has dismissed 30 or more than 30 batsmen in World cup matches.

Fact-24:

Ricky Ponting holds the record for taking highest number of catches, when we count total number of catches in all the world cups, as a fielder. Next in the list are Sanath Jayaruriya, Chris Cairns, Inzamam-ul-Haq and Brian Lara.

Fact-25:

Mohammad Kaif of India holds the record for highest number of catches in a World cup match (inning). He took 4 catches in one inning against Sri Lanka in the year 2003 (the only World cup he played). And then there are 21 fielders who took 3 catches in a inning in a World cup match.

I'm back with some interesting facts which can improve your knowledge about cricket and history of cricket world cup ! I'll be sharing 10 facts which are really interesting and mind boggling. I chose them randomly, which I would call it as top 10 world cup facts.
I'm gonna share more facts in my next article about cricket world cup facts-2 :D
As the cricket world cup 2011 is nearing, I'm focusing more on cricket world cup and trying to share the stories, facts, etc. about Cricket World cups. Cricket World cup tournament was started in the year 1975 and it was won by West Indies comfortably. In those times ODI matches used to be 60 overs each side instead of 50 overs each side (which is played presently, by name ODI).

Fact-1:

No. of Countries who have won this Title: 5 !
And they are (in alphabetical order of country name),
Australia (1987, 1999, 2003, 2007) ->4 times
India (1983) ->1 time
Pakistan (1992) ->1 time
Sri Lanka (1996) ->1 time
West Indies (1975,1979) ->2 times

Fact-2:

Only Australia has won 3 or more than 3 world cup title and they are the only team which has won world cup 3 times in a row !

Fact-3:

Australia is the only team to win more than 50 World cup matches !
They have played 69 matches in World cup tournament and won 51 matches, one tied and 17 lost. That means winning percentage is 73.9, almost 74% !

Fact-4:

Highest Score reached by a team in a World cup match is 413 and this was achieved by India against minnows Bermuda in the year 2007. They broke the previous record held by Sri Lankans, that is 398 against another minnows Kenya in the year 1996.

Fact-5:

Lowest total scored by any team in World cup matches is 36 all out, by Canada against Sri Lanka in the year 2007.

Fact-6:

The highest margin by which any team has won against opposition in terms of runs is India. Indian thrashed Bermuda in the world cup 2007 by 257 runs. It is the largest victory margin with respect to runs.

Fact-7:

In terms of wickets, there are 7 instances when a team won against there opposition by 10 wickets, and that is the maximum margin they can win in terms of wicket !

Fact-8:

Sachin Tendulkar of India holds the record for most 50+ scores in World cup matches. He has scored 50+ runs 17 times, which includes 4 century and 13 half centuries.
Next in the list is Herschelle Gibbs (2 centuries, 8 half-centuries) of South Africa and Ricky Ponting (4 centuries, 6 half-centuries) of Australia having scored 10 times 50+ score.

Note: Century means 100 or more than 100 runs scored, and half century means 50 or more than 50 runs scored.

Fact-9:

Sachin Tendulkar of India holds the record for scoring highest amount of runs in World cup matches, that is he scored 1796 runs from only 36 games. And then in the list comes, Ricky Ponting of Australia, Brian Lara of West Indies, Sanath Jayasuriya os Sri Lanka, Adam Gilchrist of Australia, Javed Miandad of Pakistan, Stephen Fleming of New Zealand, Herschelle Gibbs of South Africa, Aravinda de Silva of Sri Lanka, Viv Richards of West Indies, Sourav Ganguly of India and Mark Waugh of Australia. Each have scored 1000+ runs in World cup tournament the amount of runs scored decreases in the order I gave.

Fact-10:

Glenn McGrath and Ricky Ponting holds the record for appearing in highest number of matches in World cup Tournaments, each has played 39 games in World Cup till now. And others who are in the range of 35+ games in world cup are Sanath Jayasuriya played 38 matches, Wasim Akram played 38 matches and Sachin Tendulkar played 36 matches in world cup.

Some of the names are really surprising, like mosquito occupies the 1st place in deadliest animal list & Box jellyfish is on 3rd and White Shark on 4th (excluding Humans)!!
You would have rate Whilte Shark 1st, like other humans (including me), right ? But the deadliness is based on the number of deaths caused by that specific animal, as deadliness is derived from DEADliness and it is the fact of these animals !!

At what speed does Earth revolve around the Sun ?

Have you ever wondered at what speed does out Earth revolve around the sun ?

No, then I'm surprised !! As I always used to wonder about the rotation speed of the Earth around the sun.

And if your answer is yes, then probably you might not be knowing the speed, right ?

Now, Let's calculate the speed of Earth's with which it rotates around the sun, which we call it as one complete revolution.

We know that Earth takes 1 year to revolve around the sun, that is, time,t= 8765.813 hours.

Also, we know that the average distance between Sun and the Earth is 149,597,890 km, that is we can take that value as radius of a cirlce on which Earth revolve, then, Circumference of the circle, that is,
Distance travelled by Earth in one year, S=2*pi*149,597,890 km (assuming the the path of Earth in which it revolves is circle)

= 940329594.3 km (approximately)

Note: Here I've used the value of pi as 22/7 ( I know it is not accurate value, though we take in practice for calculation :)

Now we know that velocity or speed, v = S/t

=> v = 940329594.3 km / 8765.813 hours = 107272 km/hr (approximately)

That is, the speed at Earth revolve around the Sun, that is Earth's revolution speed, is 66655.73 miles per hour (= 107272 km/hr).

Isn't it very fast ?? And indeed the fact is that is too fast !!

Let me start my article by asking a simple question, Do you like Cricket ?

Let me give you an introduction to the Biggest tournament of Cricket, which is held every four years (same as Olympics, FIFA world cup, and many major tournaments) !!! Many teams participate in this tournament to win this tournament, it involves ODI matches (that is 50 overs per side, that is on an average a match will end in 7 hours). There are group matches, and then super 6/8 (depending on the teams participating), also known as quarter finals, then you have semifinal (having only 4 teams) and then you have final (2 teams, and one will be the winner !!). This was a brief introduction in general about Cricket world cup. Also, it is the 3rd largest and the biggest tournament, related to sports on the Earth !

Giant planet discovered outside our galaxy !

Recently astronomers discovered something which can be a great break through in the field of astronomy. They discovered a planet, and named it as HIP 13044b (that is, combination of hydrogen and helium gases, also known as Helmi stream group of stars). It is a gas planet and biggest planet ever discovered by humans !
Also, it is the first planet discovered outside out galaxy, which is around 400 times heavier than earth, that is its mass will be around 400*earth mass = 2.38968 × 10^25 kilograms !! It is around 2000 light years (that is around 1.89210568 × 10^16 Kilometers) away from Earth.

I've summarized the properties of the planet below, you can see them as they are listed :)
Planet name : HIP 13044b
Weight : 25% heavier than Jupiter !
Mass : 400 earth mass = 2.38968 × 10^25 kilograms !
Future : Orbiting around a star, which will be dead soon (as it is in red giant phase) and can consume the planets in its solar system !

Another interesting fact is that till now we (I mean astronomers and scientist) discovered 500 planets in our universe ! and who knows there can another 500 revolving or stationary planets exist in our mysterious universe. Also, there is a possibility that the new planets discovered might be larger than this planet !!

A planet which is almost Earth's Duplicate !!

Do you know astronomers and scientist have discovered a planet, named Gliese 581g which is almost similar to Earth. And this news was told by team at the University of California, Santa Cruz, and the Carnegie Institution of Washington to the world. The reasons I say almost similar to Earth but not exactly same are as follows,

The planet discovered doesn't belong to our solar system.
The newly discovered planet revolves round the dwarf planet Gliese 581.
Gliese 581g's mass is 3 times that of Earth's mass, that is around 17.9226 * 10^24 kilograms (since earth's mass is 5.9742 * 10^24 kilograms and 17.9226 * 10^24 = 3 * 5.9742 * 10^24).
The average temperature as estimated by the astronomers is from -24 to 10 degrees Fahrenheit, that is around -31 to -12 degrees Celsius.
It is almost 20 light years away from Earth, that is around 1.89210568 × 10^14 Kilometers (since 1 light year=9.4605284 × 10^12 Kilometers).
Gliese 581g is rocky and the gravity is similar to that of Earth.

Now, what is the problem ?
Till now astronomers are not successful in detecting water on this planet.

So, still the biggest question with respect to astronomy is again unanswered, that is Is there any other planet which supports life?

Folder names which you can't create in Windows !!

Hello friends,
I was trying few things on my laptop and then one of friend came to me ask if I can create a new folder with name 'con', the I said "yes, why not ?"
Then he challenged me to create the folder name as con and show him, I tried but I was unsuccessful and then I asked him to give me some time so that I can create the folder with name con, and then I surfed internet to know the reason and then I came to knew that Windows use con,prn,aux, com1, com2, com3, com4, com5, com6, com7, com8, com9, lpt1, lpt2, lpt3, lpt4, lpt5, lpt6, lpt7, lpt8, lpt9 for special purpose, so Windows don't allow users to create the folder with those names (atleast directly). Try to create if you don't believe me, and I'm sure you will not be able to create a folder name with above mentioned names. To add on this, you know it was first time observed by an Indian !

But, I could find a way to create a folder with name as 'con' (without quotes) and indirectly others also. :)
There are three ways in which you can create a folder by those names, and the methods are

Using a Software like Dosbox , but I don't think there is fun in using a software and creating a folder with specified names.
Second way is you can cheat, that is press Alt+0160 and then type con or prn or aux or any of the above mentioned names. Here Alt+0160 will give a extra space before you type the name of the folder, which you can't do it directly by pressing space bar. Also, by this trick you can rename a folder by 'con' or 'prn' or 'aux' or 'nul' or 'lpt*' or 'com*'
And the last way which I know is by using command prompt of windows. Go to start then click on run and the type 'cmd'(without quotes) and then type below mentioned command to create the folder name of your choice,

C:\Documents and settings>md \\.\D:\con to create the folder in D drive with name con.

C:\Documents and settings>rd \\.\D:\con

As promised, I would be sharing a tool which will help you run and compile the program online and after using it you needn't install most of the programming language compilers. The tool which I'm talking about can compile programming languages/scripts like C, C++, D, Haskell, Lua, OCaml, PHP, Perl, Python, Ruby, Tcl, etc..

Just visit this website, and you can find the text area wher you can paste your typed code or you can directly type your code in the text area.and chose the language you want to compile by selecting a radio button. The other advantage of the website is that it offers sample programs, so that you nedn't worry about sample codes and recent pastes with timestamp, so if you close the window by mistake then you needn't typepaste the code again !!

Is iPhaad, India's answer to the iPad, for real?

Following the launch of Apple's iPad, touted by many as the magnified version of the iPhone, India Inc. quickly jabbed Apple in the face with prototype release of the desi iPad (hereby referred to as the iPhaad) and announced it would sell this little baby for just $35. Ouch.
The HRD ministry had hailed this new development and taunted the mighty MIT to match their feat, which surpassed MIT's closest attempt - The $100 gadget under the "One laptop per child" banner (which actually ended up costing $200, as scaling down is underway at MIT to make it available for $100). This begs for the answer to one question: Is it for real?? Is it good enough?
The answer to that, you are about to find out!

The $35 tablet PC made a public appearance last night on NDTV and showed off its figure. Oops, I meant specs. It is very much for real, although, it remains to be seen how much this virgin will actually cost. It's going to be released in three size variants : 5-inch, 7-inch and 9-inch and is all set to don a 2GB RAM, a SIM card slot, 3G and Wi-Fi connectivity, microUSB, microSD expandable storage, video out and a webcam! All this with the Android 2.1 OS!! Moreover, it's a tree hugger as it runs on a meager two-watt power supply, meaning it can adapt to life in rural India. A minor drawback is its resistive touch interface, which is not very responsive, but for $35 I'd be more than willing to make that compromise!

Well, now, the bad news: HRD minister, Kapil Sibal, has specifically stated that they don't intend to enter the iPhaad, whose actual cost of components is close to $50, into the retail market. The $35 asking price is highly subsidized for use by students all over India and expected to be available only in schools and colleges.
It rolls out into students' hands by November 2011 and once it infects the Indians, has plans to globetrot as well!
The up side to it is, It will throw the industry into a competition to lower their prices and split open the market for more such products, even if for $100 and some more features thrown in.

Run your C program online free !!

Recently while surfing I found an interesting tool which might interest almost all the engineering/M.tech/Ph.D students or any person who doesn't want to install or download programming language,C compiler.

Just copy-paste your code or directly type your code in the text area provided below, and click on submit button to see if there any warnings or errors.

Note: Above tool is not developed by us, I got it from internet.

And when your program is without any errors or warnings then your download manager or browser will ask you download the executable file, click on save and then run it on your computer by double clicking on the .exe file, which you have downloaded. I suggest everyone to use getch method which is present in conio.h library to see the output in convenient manner. So from now onwards no need to install an turbo C software, as you can execute and compile your C program/code online.

Develop your own Screensaver

Hello Everyone !
Did you ever wondered how can you develop your own screensaver in Windows operating system ?
If your answer is yes, then See the following trick by which you can develop your own screensaver with your images and see the preview instantly. I discovered it while I was playing with some options in Windows. This trick will work in almost all Windows OS.

So, here I start..

The first step is to minimize all the windows, you can do it by pressing Win+d or do it manually.
Then right click on the free space of the desktop, I mean right click at empty area on desktop and select properties.
Then goto screensaver tab and select My Pictures Slideshow from the drop down menu in that window.
Now click on settings button, you see a window popping out and there you can select the folder from which you want windows to pull the images and show in screensaver, time at which the image should change, etc.. As shown in the below image,
Then click Apply/OK to save your settings, and you are done with the process !!

Delete temporary files and folders

While I surf I see at many places people ask how do I delete the temporary files or cookies or the content which they have viewed from there computer permanently or you can say surfing history. I though it will be good if I share the same thing with my viewers, so that they don't have similar problem.

There are various ways by which you can delete temporary files/folders from your PC and save memory. I'll tell you the trick to remove the stuff which aren't necessary for top 3 browsers & one general way.

If you are using Internet Explorer then just menu bar and search for TOOLS then click on it. Then click on INTERNET OPTIONS then you see a windows with some tabs, click on GENERAL tab (by default that is the tab selected) and then click DELETE button under browsing history then it ask you which part/section to delete if you want to delete full browsing history then click DELETE ALL. Otherwise select accordingly.

If you are using Mozilla firefox then press Ctrl+Shift+Del then you see a window popping out, there you can see time range, that is the time interval for which you want to delete browsing history and you have options to select to delete.

If you are using Google Chrome then follow the procedure as I said for firefox :D

Now general method by which you can delete the browsing history of all the browser simultaneously. There is a application called CCleaner (a freeware), you can download it from there official website, free of cost, install the application (that is, .exe file) and launch the application, there just click on run CCleaner and it will take care of deleting browsing history & temporary files and folder. Also, CCleaner is helpful in repairing history and managing start-up programs and installed programs.

There is private browsing in chrome and firefox, when you use this feature cookies aren't stored.
So, now you can save more memory.. :)

India v/s Sri Lanka

As Indian Tigers are playing against Sri Lankan, some of the records are set to tumble and some record may go further. Indian and Sri Lanka will be playing 3 test matches in the ongoing series, and the first test match will be last test match for the great spin bowler, Muttiah Muralitharan (who already has 792 wickets, and that is a record for highest number of wickets taken by any bowler in test cricket history).

Now, what are the records that can go further, that is might get extended and what are the record which can tumble in the series & some facts related to Indian v/s Sri Lanka test series.

From India's (No.1 Test team in ICC ranking) point of view:

To start with, The WALL of India (Rahul Dravid) needs only 87 runs to complete 1500 runs against Sri Lanka in test matches. And he will be the 2nd Indian batsmen to achieve this feat.
Rahul Dravid requires only 3 test fifties to complete 90 test fifties, and then he will be 4th batsmen in the history of test cricket.
Sachin Tendulkar need another century (100 runs or more) against Sri Lanka and then he becomes the first player to score nine or more test 100's against two spicific oppositions.
Now, it is between Sachin Tendulkar and Rahul Dravid as well in this series, they both hold the record for highest number of half centuries (more than 50 runs and less than 100) against Sri Lanka by Indian. They have scored 12 half centuries each till now against Sri Lanka.

From Sri Lanka's (No.4 Test team as per ICC ranking) point of view:

Kumar Sangakkara needs only 84 runs to complete 7000 runs in test cricket.
Muttiah Muralitharan needs only 3 wickets to take 100 or more wickets against India & then he becomes the first cricketer to get 100 or more wickets against India in test cricket. Also, he need 8 wickets to complete 800 test wickets.
Aravinda de Silva (retired from international cricket) and Mahela Jayawardene holds the record for scoring highest number of centuries against India by a Sri Lankan, that is 6 centuries each. Now if Mahela Jayawardene scores another century in this series then he would surpass Aravinda de Silva and will hold numero one position, in this regard.

Now we compare and contrast players from both the countries:

Mohammad Azharuddin (former Indian player) with 27 catches hold the record for highest number of catches in India-Sri Lanka test matches. For Sri Lanka, Hasan Tilakaratne holds the record with 16 catches, highes number of catches by any Sri Lankan player in Indis-Sri Lanka tests.
SAR Silva (former Sri Lankan player) with 22 dismissals holds the record for highest number of dismissals by wicket keeper in India-Sri Lanka test matches. For India, Nayan Mongia holds the record with 18 dismissals.
Indian have posted 43 three figure partnership, that is 100 or more runs by a pair, against Sri Lanka in test matches and Sri Lanka have posted only 33 100+ partnerships against India test matches.

Now the schedule for the test series is as follows,
1st Test is from 18th July to 22nd July, 2010
2nd Test is from 26th July to 30th July, 2010
3rd Test is from 03rd August to 07th August, 2010

IITians rocks and gives Rupee its symbol !!

D. Udaya Kumar, a Postgraduate student from IIT (Indian Institute of Technology) has proposed a symbol for Indian Rupee and it is among the 5 shortlisted symbols which have gone for approval to the ministry. The symbol is an amalgam of the Devanagari 'Ra' and the Roman capital 'R' without the stem, it is very much appreciated by Finance minister of India, Pranab Mukherjee.

The Indian ministry organized a design competition for the cash prize of Rs.2.5 lakh, that is Rs. 250 Thousand. The symbol should be applicable to the standard keyboard, be in the national language script or a visual representation and should represent the historical and cultural ethos of the country.

The aim of the design is to provide Indian rupee international recognition and it will distinguish Indian rupee from Nepal's, Pakistan's and Sri Lankan Rupee. The symbol has been approved by Indian Ministry. Now Indian Rupee will join the elite group of dollar, euro, pound and yen.

Spain wins the FIFA World cup 2010 & Paul,the octopus gets it right again !

The 19th edition of the FIFA world cup is concluded, and Spain wins it !!
The final, 64th match of the tournament was played between Spain (presently at World No.2 in FIFA rankings) & Netherlands (presently at World No.4 in FIFA rankings), that is you can say Holland or Dutch and Spain won the match with a score line of 1-0. Both teams played more cautiously in the 1st half and then Spain started attacking from the word go in the 2nd half and at the end of 2nd half the score-line was 0-0. The result of the match was decided in extra time.

I must say Netherlands were bit more defensive and I observed that at an average of 15 minutes they were passing the ball to there goalkeeper, that is atleast for 6 times they passed the ball to there goalkeeper, and I think it is very cautious and defensive approach from them.

This is the first time the team losing its opening match, Spain lost to Switzerland in there opening encounter, and then winning the world cup. And at last but not the least, Paul, the octopus predicted the result accurately and that takes his tally to 8 out 8, that is his prediction are 100% correct until now. Paul predicted result of 8 matches (including semifinal and final) and they all went in the same way. Though Mani parrot lost the battle against Paul octopus, it has nothing to loose, as it has already gained popularity in Singapore ! :)

Roger Federer hits rock bottom in last 6½ years !!

Roger Federer, I don't think he needs any introduction, has slided to the lowest rank ever in his last 6½ years. That is, he is now at No.3 (his lowest rank since November, 2003) in the latest ATP ranking, which was released after Wimbledon. He lost the match against Tomáš Berdych(from 13th position he jumped to 8th position after his performance in Wimbledon) in quarter finals of the oldest tennis tournament in the world, that is Wimbledon and then from No.2 he slipped to No.3. Earlier in this year after French open he lost is No.1 position and Rafael Nadal took over his place on June 7th.

Federer was 1 week short of Pete Sampras record of being on top for 286 weeks. Rafael Nadal after winning Wimbledon, for the second time, is on No.1 and extends his points lead. As Spain and Netherlands are preparing for the final combat, we know the winners, that is even before the final of football world cup is started we know the winners, thanks to Paul octopus (also knwn as paul baba), predicting Spain as the winner and Mani parrot( known as tota, in Hindi), predicting Netherlands as the winner. They are two genius in predicting the winners of the match in football world cup 2010 and this time they differ in there prediction. So, it is now Paul v/s Mani.. Paul is eight legged aquatic animal, presently located in Germany and Mani is from Singapore.

Paul octopus whose record is 100% with respect to predictions about the winners of the football matches, that is octopus has till now predicted 6 out of 6 correct prediction, the latest correct prediction was Spain winning over Germany in Semifinals. Now the same Paul has predicted that Spain will win the finals and Germany will win the play-off match, that is Germany will be third, Netherlands (or Holland) will be second and Spain will be on top. What happened in Quarter finals was really hearting and dramatic !!
Motivated and spirited Netherlands (or Holland or Dutch) defeated World No.1 team Brazil in 57th match of the tournament and the 1st match of the quarterfinals. And in the next quarter final match, on the same day, Uruguay defeated Ghana (the lone country from Africa continent to reach Quarterfinals) in the penalty shootout, in the match Uruguay's Luis Suarez stopped the ball with the hand (could have been the winning goal for Ghana) in the dying moments of the match, known as Hand of GOD by Uruguay team supporters and Hand of DEVIL by Ghana team supporters, and that sealed the fate of Ghana to reach semifinals... And debate continues, should a FOOTball player, other than goalkeeper, be allowed to stop the ball in a FOOTball match in such tense moments or any other moment with hand?

Next day Germany thrashed Argentine by 4-0 and ensured that they go into semifinals comfortably and they will meet World No.2,Spain (defeated Paraguay with a scoreline of 1-0 in quarterfinals, that is 60th match of the tournament) in the Semi-finals.

The Semifinal matches will be held in two days, that is on 6th July and 7th July. And then there will be match for the 3rd place on 10th July. In the match for 3rd place, the teams losing in the semifinal match will be facing each other !

FIFA world cup 2010 -- Quarter finals

Finally the Round-2 was complete with some controversies, and now there is another knock-out round that is Quarter finals, in which 8 teams qualified after winning there respective matches in round-2 of FIFA world cup 2010, also known as football world cup. The teams which qualified for the Quarter final stage are,

Ghana

Spain

The matches of this stage will be completed in the span of 2 days,that is on 2nd and 3rd July, with two matches every day. The fixtures are as follows,

Netherlands v/s Brazil , on 2nd July,2010 -->57th match of tournament

Uruguay v/s Ghana , on 2nd July,2010 -->58th match of tournament

Argentina v/s Germany , on 3rd July,2010 -->59th match of tournament

Paraguay v/s Spain , on 3rd July,2010 -->60th match of tournament

After this round total of 60 matches will be complete and then there will semifinals, match for the 3rd place and then the Finals.

But for the Argentines, Maradona’s second goal against England in the 1986 World Cup was far more than just a goal. It was the revenge of a nation.

Just four minutes after the infamous ‘Hand of God’ goal in the 1986 World Cup quarter-final match between Argentina and England, when Diego Maradona punched the ball into the English goal, he dribbled past five English players to put the ball in the net again. England were knocked out of the tournament. In a poll conducted by Fifa in 2002, this goal was voted the Goal of the Century by football fans around the world. It is widely considered Maradona’s magnum opus.
But Maradona’s feat was much more than just a goal for the Argentine public. They saw it as revenge for losing the Falklands War in 1982 to Britain. Indeed, the footballing rivalry between the two countries had been equally bitter for 40 years. In a quarter-final of the 1966 World Cup, a game that Argentines refer to as “the theft of the century”, England won 1-0 thanks to a goal by Geoff Hurst which the Argentines thought was an offside. However, things turned really ugly when Argentina captain Antonio Rattín was “unfairly” sent off, and Rattín had to be escorted off the pitch by cops.
In Argentina, there were reports that the German referee said he had sent Rattín off because he disliked the way he had looked at him. British newspapers, meanwhile, cited the referee ascribing the send-off to the player’s ‘violence of the tongue’; but since the German knew no Spanish, this seemed outrageous to Argentines. What did Rattín do? He’d wanted to speak with the German referee on rulings that seemed overly favourable to the English. Rattín made a visible signal, indicating his captain’s armband and need for a translator.
After the match, England manager Alf Ramsey refused to allow his players to swap shirts with the Argentines as is traditional after the conclusion of a football match and later described the South Americans as "animals” in the press.
Maradona wrote in his autobiography: ‘I sometimes think I preferred the one with my hand… It was a bit like stealing the wallet of the English.’ He also wrote that ‘it was as if we had beaten a country, not just a football team… Although we had said before the game that football had nothing to do with the Malvinas war, we knew they had killed a lot of Argentine boys there…And this was revenge.’

FIFA world cup 2010--Round 2

Till yesterday all the teams played at-least 3 matches each, that is 25th June,2010 was the last day of round 1 and from today round matches are played in South Africa. 16 teams qualified for round 2 (knock out round) and after this round quarter final round will be there, in which you can see 8 teams will be playing.
Also, till now 48 football matches are completed, that is in round 1 total number of matches played is 48.
